HBA-USA members that conduct research on "Structural Biology"

- Apoptosis

Evripidis Gavathiotis
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Children's Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School, Instructor
We study the structure and function of apoptotic protein interactions that regulate life and death decisions in the cell. We aim to develop
novel pharmacological strategies and compounds to prevent protein interactions that cause cancer and cardiovascular disease and
translate them into therapies.
We employ a multidisciplinary approach spanning chemistry, structural biology, biochemistry, cell biology and in vivo studies.

- Drug design

Nicoleta J Economou
Drexel University, College of Medicine, Ph.D. candidate in Biochemistry (Crystallography)
I am currently working on developing a tool for the crystallization of antibiotics. In the near future I will be doing structural and biophysical
assays on a commercially available antibiotic, studying its mechanism of action
